Since its beginning the Covington church has met in several locations in Covington. From 1921 until 1966, the church met in a building at the corner of Munford and Pleasant. The building was old and additional space was needed in the mid-sixties, but there was not room at that location for expansion. Therefore, the elders and members chose to build a new building at our current location. I’m sure a lot of prayers were said before that conclusion was reached. Not everyone was in agreement then because of the expense and the fact that the new building would seat almost three times the number of people moving into the facility. I understand that many of the rows of seats in the auditorium were roped off in those early days because they were not needed. It is very clear now that the decision made at that time was a good one. Since its completion, this building has had three additions to take care of needed classroom and fellowship space. Our numbers have been increasing in the last few years, so it seems that it is now time again for us to build additional space to maintain current and future growth. Just as in the past, a lot of prayers were said before plans were drawn to build a new auditorium. Any time a big decision like this has to be made, it is not unusual for us feel a lot of uncertainty and even fear of the unknown. This is where faith steps in. We ask God for direction, guidance, and blessings and trust Him to lead us down the right paths. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). On March 2, 2014 we launched a capital campaign, Continue the Vision, to raise money for this expansion. In 2017, the elders decided to proceed. Construction began in 2018 and was concluded in April 2019. Our inaugural service in the new 500 seat auditorium was held on April 28, 2019.
